6/24/2012 Daybook

Outside my window...

It's cool, a little windy, absolutely lovely!  We had a heat wave last week which was great for business but caught us a bit off guard as we had a few other very big jobs during the week.  To say that work kicked my but would be an understatement.  But I'm all for the weather heating back up again soon!

I am thankful...

For so many things.  For forgiving and understanding family.  For a friends baby that although was born with some health scares seems to be doing great!  And for getting to just spend time with my kids.

I am thinking about...
Next week at work.  That is the only thing about this time of year, even on my days off I am thinking about the things that need to get done for the next week.

Learning all the time...
Oh boy are we!  So, I was reading with Big Sister last night, we have a pre-school book I bought a couple years ago, and she seemed to be reading the words.  I kind of thought maybe she wasn't because there were pictures next to a lot of the words and the color words were written in the color they represented.  Today I decided to test it out...

From the kitchen...
Thanks to the tough week we have been eating a lot of fast food lately.  Tonight we made breaded baked chicken, salt and pepper zucchini (straight off the vine!) and homemade macaroni and cheese!  I do like to cook, I just need to make more time for it.

I am creating...
Well, on the sewing desk is a couple of outfits for 4th of July...  I got some printed panels forever ago and never made them up.  I just happened to have two of them!  I've got one started and the other cut.  I'm even going to attempt to make my own bias binding!

I am working on...
Keeping up without stressing out and making myself sick.  I'm also working on not overbooking my dad and making him sick!

I am going...
To take Big Sister to her first official dance class on Monday!  Very excited about that, let me tell you!

I am hoping...
To actually finish the laundry and the dishes and to feel better by Monday.  What do you think?  Asking too much?

I am reading...
Work orders and invoices, very little else.  I am still trying to keep up with reading blogs but that seems to be distracting me from actually writing my own.  Not to mention keeping me from doing things to blog about!

I am praying...
For my cousin and her family, that her pregnancy goes smoothly.  For my friend while her son heals in the hospital, may it be quickly so they can bring him home soon!  For a dear friend that is not only dealing with radiation and chemo but who's wife is expecting their first bundle of joy.  For my cousins that will be heading off to college, the ones that are currently living their grown-up lives, for my family in general.  And for my little brother and his family, that as their adventures are just beginning that the transitions are smooth.

I am hearing...
Baby Einsteins and giggling...  It's a good sound.

Around the house...
Mostly just a lot of napping!  Yes, we're trying to get things back in order, our front yard is looking less like a fire trap, our back yard will be able to be played in soon, the laundry...  Well, that may never get done.  And we'll just continue to call the kitchen a work in progress.  It's life.

One of my favorite things...
Snuggling with my girls.  Baby Sister has got to be the best hugging baby I have ever seen!  And Big Sister gets a treat on the weekends when she can cuddle up and take a nap with mommy!

A few plans for the rest of the week...
Work, dance, same-old thing!  Oh, wait!  There is a certain birthday girl at the end of this week, Mongi!

Random thought...
Why is it that it costs less to get a large pizza than it does to buy a salad?  I really need to take advantage of the fact that not only are we within walking distance of a grocery store, we are also close by the farmer's market on Saturday mornings!

Here are picture thoughts I am sharing with you....

5/27/12 Daybook

Outside my window...

I've been told it's pretty warm out there.  I wouldn't know, I haven't left the house today. I can tell you that it is bright and sunny out there!

I am thankful...

For surprise birthday parties!  Especially when there's a surprise for the birthday boy and for the guests!!!

I am thinking about...
My brother.  He came home this weekend to surprise his son, and the rest of us.  I just can't get enough of that kid!!!  And about the fact that Baby Sister is five months old today!  Where is the time going?

Learning all the time...
That even "perfect" children that have been sleeping so well with have "off" weeks...

From the kitchen...
A whole lot of nothing!  Our cupboards may not be bare, but they are pretty sparse, time for some grocery shopping!!!

I am creating...
Blah!  Who are we kidding?  The baby has been waking up twice each night for feedings. We're lucky if I get a shower and get dressed right now!

I am working on...
Getting some order around here!  But earlier today I was working on getting some patches sewn on some very important shirts...  I even got them done.

I am going...
To get my sewing room organized...

I am hoping...
To maybe get some sewing done.

I am reading...
Blogs, emails, someday I will get some extra minutes to sneak in some reading...

I am praying...
For a safe trip back for my brother.  And for all the veterans this holiday weekend and their families.

I am hearing...
Music from the t.v.  Soon to be interrupted by the sounds of children back from a visit with Grandma and Grandpa!

Around the house...
Lot's of cleaning up to do.

One of my favorite things...
Spending time with the family, especially when it's spent with my brother!

A few plans for the rest of the week...
Tomorrow, in honor of Memorial Day, we will be going to a Veteran's cemetery to honor those that have served our country.  We did this last year and it was incredible.  I see this as a family tradition that will last some time.

Random thought...
I understand the thought that absence makes the heart grow fonder but after we left my brother's house last night I realized how much he and his wife really like each other.  It wasn't anything they said and nothing that they overly did, it was the little things.  It was the quick hug in between visiting.  The hand holding as they walked somewhere.  The stolen kiss as they passed each other.  It makes you remember what it is to be loved.

Outside my window...

It is cold and windy.  We really do have such strange weather here!  Over ninety degrees this weekend and then cold today!  Oh Mother Nature, you have such a sense of humor!

I am thankful...

For amazing doctors that take care of the ones we love!  And for the two little girls that made my Mother's Day so special.  And for having a mom (and other mother figures) in my life.

I am thinking about...
Time.  And how it slips past us so fast...  Oh, and the big, hairy spider I killed today.  Ironic?

Learning all the time...
We are still learning about how to deal with a two-year-old.  And what to do with her during the day while Mommy needs to get work done.

From the kitchen...
Last week we were bad...  This week we have a plan to be better.  We are working on a goal of eating at home more while at the same time trying to eat better.  I think the donut I had for breakfast wasn't on the plan but Mom made some super yummy chicken tacos for dinner!!!

I am creating...
I would love to fill this section with amazing crafts that would make you jealous to be me.  Alas, I cannot.  I had a plan to create things.  I have a niece and a nephew that will be celebrating Birthdays in the next few weeks and I have great ideas and no motivation.  Yeah, yeah, poor me!

I am working on...
Keeping up with work!  I'm not getting ahead of the game right now but I'm keeping my head above water!

I am going...
To an appointment Tuesday and a doctors appointment for Baby Sister on Wednesday.  Just a check up.  But that's the excitement this week!

I am hoping...
For Big Sister and I to learn how to communicate better.

I am reading...
Blogs...  Blogs about how to blog!

I am praying...
For all the children that didn't get to spend Mother's Day with their mommies.  For all the mothers that couldn't spend Mother's Day with their kids.  For the mommies that have yet to meet those little bundles that will create a whole new life for them.  For family that had one of the most crazy weeks, almost losing someone and knowing that he is strong enough to pull through.  For the doctors and nurses that do big things and small.  For anyone that does big things or small.

I am hearing...
Hubby making me a glass of chocolate milk.  Because I asked nicely...

Around the house...
Now that we know we are here for the long-haul we are fixing things up.  We'll be doing some work to our bathrooms soon, painting some rooms, putting things back up on the walls.

One of my favorite things...
Getting to spend time with my nephews!  Last week I got one of my nephews almost the whole day and today I got the other one for half the day.  I got to hang out with them, watch some shows, help with homework.  They are amazing boys and I love the time I get with them.

A few plans for the rest of the week...
A couple appointments and clean, clean, clean!

Random thought...
I totally get why people hate jury duty!  I did a report on jury duty when I was in High School (I think, I doubt it was in Jr High?) and I "get" the whole process.  I get it that we need to be impartial and "fair" and that people are innocent until proven guilty and that you have to believe without a "reasonable doubt" that the person did what they are accused of doing.  The process needs a revamp though!  I don't know how but it really does.  Spending four hours in a room only to have five people get dismissed!?!?  Okay, so really seven people got dismissed but one of them was a pregnant lady who is due any second and the other was a dude that was practically on oxygen!  And those two got dismissed at the beginning...  When they told me I'd have to come back the next day I nearly broke down!  I think the judge was a little pissy that I was asking for a deferment at the end of the day but whatever.  So in three months I will be getting another summons.  Did you know I could have gotten a one year deferment if I would have read the fine print about breastfeeding?  Yeah, I'm kicking myself about it, trust me!!!

Here are picture thoughts I am sharing with you....
My Mother's Day presents...  A tablet and chocolate covered strawberry!

I got two...  This is the one that I had when I thought about taking a picture.
